Grand Superintendent Letter 1
Sir Knights and Cousins,
With the establishment of St. Gobban Saer Council No. 130 and Tully Cross Council No. 131, it was decided that having three councils, Michigan should leave the Midwest jurisdiction and become its own jurisdiction with its own Grand Superintendent. As the term of our Jr. Past Great Chief, M.E. Sir Knight, Robert Officer drew to a close, it was my honor to be appointed to the office of Grand Superintendent of Michigan, and I was invested with the jewel of my office at the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Grand Council at Masonic Week in Arlington, Virginia. I'd like to thank M.E. Sir Knight Robert, for appointing me, as well as V.E. Sir Knight Leland Burlison for his service as Grand Superintendent of the Midwest, and I bring you greetings from our new M.E. Great Chief, Lloyd Leinbaugh.
My goal as Grand Superintendent is simply to carry out the mission of Knight Masonry. And you can find that mission on the homepage of the new Knight Masons of Michigan website, km-mi.org. Previously this website was simply for Trinity Council No. 36, but it has been adapted to include information about all Michigan councils, including a group calendar and basic information about each council in the state. If you would like to add any sections to your area of the site, or any activities to the calendar please let me know.
In addition to the new website, I have been working with your Scribes to update and correct membership records. The Grand Council has moved to MMS for its membership system and there have been some inaccuracies. If you have a login through Grand Encampment, you can update your personal records for Knight Masons as well, but unfortunately there are currently no options yet for those who are not Knights Templar.
Our Annual Michigan Knight Masons Statewide Assembly & Trinity Sunday Observance will be held in Lansing on Saturday, June 7, 2025, where we will confer all three Knight Mason degrees. If your council wishes to take on a particular degree, please let me know. Casting and detailed planning for those degrees will begin soon.
And of course, before that, on Sunday, March 16, 2025, we have the Detroit St. Patrick’s Parade. It's been 10 years since we started marching in the parade, and like last year, we will have a float. This year's theme is: Detroit Irish: A charitable legacy of friendship, loyalty, and love, and as Masons I think we shouldn't have too hard of a time highlighting charitable giving. Limited seating on the float will be available, with priority given to those who cannot reasonably march. We have been placed in the 5th Division this year, which means we are to assemble on Abbot Street near the corner of 6th Street no later than Noon. Step off is at 1pm. Dress code will be dark suits, or overcoats with Knight Masons apron and sash, with sword, for Cousins, or dark suits or overcoats with Royal Arch or Blue Lodge regalia for Companions and Brothers.
I hope to visit soon, and I look forward to serving the Sir Knights and Cousins of Michigan and thank you all for all the work you do to perpetuate the ancient rituals of the Irish Masonic Canon.
Ne cede malis,
Brandon Mullins, PEC, KCZ
V.E. Grand Superintendent of Michigan
